The Ultimate Chocolate Brownie

Brownies should be soft in the centre. If you prefer your brownies more baked, leave it in the oven for 5 more minutes.

Serves 16 squares

Cook time 50 – 55 minutes

Ingredients

  • 300 g dark chocolate, break in blocks
  • 250 g (270 ml) butter, cut in blocks
  • 3 large eggs
  • 250 g (315 ml) soft brown sugar
  • 100 g (180 ml) cake flour
  • 5 ml baking powder
  • 100 g pecan nuts, roughly chopped
  • 80 g white chocolate, roughly chopped
  • icing sugar to dust.

Preheat oven to 170 °C. Line a square tin of 22 x 22cm with baking paper. Grease the tin well. Place  dark chocolate and butter in a mixing bowl. Place mixing bowl over a saucepan with simmering water. Stir and let it melt over the heat. Beat eggs and sugar till light and fluffy. Fold in melted chocolate and butter mixture into sugar and egg mixture. Sieve flour and baking powder in mixing bowl and fold into chocolate mixture. Fold in chopped nuts and white chocolate. Pour in prepared tin and place in oven. Bake for 50 – 55 minutes. Take out of oven and let in cool in the tin. Carefully remove from tin and cut into blocks. Dust with icing sugar.

 

LEKKERSTE SJOKOLADE-BRUINTJIES

Genoeg vir 16 blokke

Bak tyd 50 – 55 minute

Bestanddele

  • 300 g donker sjokolade, in stukke gebreek
  • 250 g (270 ml) botter, in blokkies gesny
  • 3 groot eiers
  • 250 g (315 ml) sagte bruinsuiker
  • 100 g (180 ml) koekmeel
  • 5 ml bakpoeier
  • 100 g pekanneute, grofgekap
  • 80 g wit sjokolade, grofgekap
  • versiersuiker om oor te sif

Verhit oond tot 170 °C. Voer die bodem van ‘n vierkantige koekpan (22 cm x 22 cm)met bakpapier en spuit goed met kleefwerende kossproei. Bring ‘n kastrol met water tot kookpunt. Sit botter en donker sjokolade in ‘n bak wat bo-op die kastrol pas. Plaas bak bo-op kastrol – maak seker die water raak nie aan die bak nie. Roer elke nou en dan tot botter en sjokolade gesmelt het. Klits eiers en suiker saam tot lig en romerig. Vou gesmelte botter en sjokolade in geklitste eiers. Sif meel en bakpoeier saam en vou in sjokolade mengsel. Vou neute en wit sjokolade in mengsel en gooi in uitgevoerde koekpan. Plaas in oond en bak vir 50 – 55 minute. Haal uit oond en laat afkoel in pan. Keer versigtig uit en sny in blokke. Sif versiersuiker oor.
